Traits
Traits come in 3 broad types with different methods for earning them: Standard, Blessing and Ascension traits.
Standard Traits
Standard traits have a rarity and are available as your standard ARPG traits, i.e. you can choose from this list for MYO slots and the like. The rarity tier system only refers to the chances of passing them down in breedings - each tier has their own idiosyncrasies that may make them easier or harder to obtain.
Tier | About |
---|---|
Common | Each subtype of Steorling has required common traits - the Steorling must have the listed traits for their subtype. However, common traits can be passed down to subtypes not their own. They pass down very easily, but cannot be obtained through items. |
Uncommon | These traits are less commonly seen and are more like spontaneous mutations in the population. Once discovered, they tend to pass down quite easily, but on the flip side, they cannot be obtained through items. The uncommon traits list is hidden, and new traits are added to it as they are discovered - MYOs and customs can only choose from the revealed traits. |
Rare | These traits can also happen as spontaneous mutations in breeding, but extremely rarely. Most of these are traits that affect the Steorling's gemstone horn. These are more likely to be gained through using a rare item on the Steorling. |
Blessing Traits
Blessing traits are randomly granted for lore involvement. Each has a particular look and criteria for earning it through lore-related activity - prompts, dungeons, the like. Put simply, these are rewards for participating in the world - they cannot be chosen on a custom/MYO/breeding/etc.
Ascension Traits
Ascension traits come in 5 increasing tiers, where tier 1 is the lowest and tier 5 is the highest. These are gained by spending experience (earned from playing the game) to take Ascension levels.
Ascension traits are only available as upgrades to Wishmakers, but some can be passed down, and this is the only way to get Ascension traits on a non-Wishmaker.
For more specifics on Ascension mechanics, see Ascension.
Breeding & Rerolling
Breeding: Traits are hereditary depending on the type/rarity of the trait.
Rerolling: This refers to finishing a Steorling's Ascension and losing that character in exchange for a MYO with similar traits.
