As an adventurer he is constantly getting into Situations. Despite everything, he tries to go through life with an earnest attitude and is always looking to try new things. He's very fond of creatures, primarily cute ones; carbuncles and chocobos are big favourites (chocobo racing is a favourite pasttime of his). I'm sure he'd be really into Neopets if he lived in our world.
For whatever genetic reason, he has very poor eyesight in low light, which is aided by the glow of his carbuncle. Unlike him, the carbuncle is rude to everyone else and...bloodthirsty? The carbuncle appears to hold the brain cell when it's out (probably because it's the easiest thing for him to see).
As far as fighting ability goes, he's competent and has some flexibility with fighting style. However, he greatly prefers being a mage and damage dealer, with Summoner being his main job. He's a nerd and most of his friends are nerds from nerd city.
Sherry is a Miqo'te - basically regular people with cat ears and tail (not particularly beastlike or anything) but have some unconscious catlike reflexes (expressive ears, curling up in bed).
There are 2 tribes, the Seekers of the Sun (slit pupils, no fangs) and the Keepers of the Moon (round pupils, have fangs) - these have different family structures, where Sun are more akin to social big cats (lions in particular) and Moon are similar to solitary big cats (leopards, jaguars).
I headcanon Sherry as being a halfie of both, where the Sun side gives him slit pupils, and the Moon side gives him the fangies. (This is not a game option, just player headcanon!)
Carbuncle is a sparkly...cabbit...creature...that is the hallmark of the Arcanist/Summoner job.
They usually come in 3 flavours: blue (emerald), red (ruby), yellow (topaz). (This is cosmetic in-game; I have them glamoured on the 3 main summons with different abilities so they all have their turn, but the "default" one is the blue one.) Its summoning involves some difficult/arcane geometry, and they're supposedly non-sentient, though they're known to wander off if they're too powerful for the summoner.
Sherry is a Seeker/Keeper halfie - please draw him with the slit pupils AND the pointy fangs!
The lore is that his mom is a Keeper, and his dad is a Seeker - there were some...parental shenanigans involved. Born in the Black Shroud, his dad took him to Gyr Abania to raise him with the X tribe when he was just a couple of years old, then escaped just before the Garleans occupied the land.

You can skip drawing his book entirely!! Not only is it complex, it's not terribly permanent (subject to being swapped out when I find another cool book). In the interests of having a complete reference, I am including screenshots.
